Overview

This module will look at handling complaints within the Health, Social and Community Care industry specifically from the standpoint of Scottish legislation. Complaints, comments and concerns are part and parcel of working within these industries and this module will enhance your knowledge in this area.

The learning objective in this module is aligned to section 3 (Duty of Care) of the Care Certificate Standards.

Description

It is important to handle a service user complaining about your service personally. Learning from complaints can reduce the number of complaints in the future. You will look at how a fair, open and honest culture around complaints can have a positive impact on future practices.

By the end of this module you will be able to:

  • Know key legislation relating to complaints handling
  • Understand why people complain and what they complaint about
  • Recognise the key skills and qualities needed to handle complaints effectively
  • Know how to provide remedies and redress

Study method describes the format in which the course will be delivered.
